Octos and Chocolates

Hello everyone! Sorry for the inactivity lately. On Friday I am leaving on a trip to Oregon to see the musical Wicked, so most of my energy and finances have gone towards the planning and organization of said trip.

In other news, however, my Octo from Northernista's Blog Giveaway arrived yesterday! (Thank you so much by the way; I love her!) She is so sweet and adorable and delightfully purple! Northernista also included a super-cute hairpin in the package as well!

I haven't thought of a name for her yet, though. Perhaps my lovely readers have a suggestion?

And in other other news, I received my tasty package from blusparrow the other day! I got 8 Sparrow's Eggs and some Chai Tea Latte Popcorn. They were both so tasty! It was difficult to save the chocolates for my boyfriend, but I managed somehow. Although I then proceeded to eat them all at his house anyways, leaving him with nothing.

They also came in such adorable little boxes! With cute ribbons and decorative paper flowers. Blusparrow was also incredibly kind, considerate and offered absolutely wonderful customer service. If anyone is looking for some delectable treats, I would highly recommend her shop!

New Stuff!

Hey everyone! Sorry for being inactive lately but life has left me rather exhausted. I will spare you the long rant, however, and instead leave you with some positivity!

And that positivity is new Etsy stuff! Yay!

First I bought 3 of the most gorgeous scarves I have ever seen from Suebeebuzz. Here's a piccy of myself wearing the lovely blue scarf. (Sorry, one picture is all I can muster today, but I'll definitely show off the others later!)

I also received my wonderful new earrings from ASADesigns. Here they are in my ear, (they're the cute danglies at the bottom!)

This Christmas me and my awesome friend from California, (Meri), exchanged handmade gifts. I just got these adorable pictures the other night of Meri and her evil starfish, and so I thought I would share the cuteness with you all.

Awwww, isn't she

And here is the awesome hat and octopus I got from Meri! Look how cute my octopus is! And my hat is so funky!

His name is Murphy the Roctopus. Here he is rocking out to Clint Eastwood.

Things That Make Me Happy #2

Hello everyone! Today I would love to share some talented Etsy jewelers with you all. These guys have created some really stunning, intricate, and adorable pieces of art!

LazyDaisyMarie is the artist behind the absolutely gorgeous pieces of jewelry pictured above. She uses swarovski crystals, cultured pearls, glass rubies, stardust beads, and other beautiful materials. Her jewely is striking and would definitely catch some attention! (She has some gorgeous bamboo leg warmers as well! So check out her Etsy shop!)

These dazzling works of art were created by HappyCloudMoments. She uses beautiful Cubic Zirconia and Swarovski Crystals to make some really brilliant jewelry! Her pieces range from wonderfully elegant to absolutely adorable! (My favorite are those heart-danglies! TOO cute!) Her Etsy shop is definitely worth a peek!

ASADesigns is the artist behind these adorable fruity creations. Her pieces are made from various types of materials, including glass, metal, crystal and swarovski beads. Her earrings are not only trendy and fun, but also very affordable, as her prices range from 10-20 dollars per pair. (The artist also knits some very cute scarves and blankets! Story Time #1

So it has come to my attention that I am a very bad blogger. No, it’s alright, no need to try and make me feel better about it; I know it’s true. Unfortunately my life is rather uninteresting and so trying to write about my daily activities can be tedious at times.

But not to worry; I have come up with the perfect solution! I will simply embellish the details about my life in order to better entertain you, my dear readers. No, I do not intend to lie! I am simply going to write the facts of my life in a way that is more… enjoyable.

And with that, I welcome you to my new blog segment… Story Time.

It was a rather uneventful morning; I was sitting in my sewing room, working very hard and being productive. In just under an hour I had finished sewing 147 Mopey plushies and had over 200 sales on Etsy, (which is actually very slow for me).

I was becoming a bit sleepy due to the tedium of my incredibly slow morning. I lay my head down on my keyboard and drifted into a calm, soothing sleep. Unfortunately, this did not last long as I was rudely awakened several minutes later by radioactive zombies.

I could tell they were radioactive because of the faint, green aura of sludge that surrounded them. Naturally, I tried using my amazing salesmanship instincts to persuade the zombies into purchasing several Mopey plushies for 500 dollars each.

It seemed, however, that these particular gentlemen lacked the sufficient funds to purchase quality handmade goods. In fact, the offer seemed to upset the radioactive zombies and actually sent them into a mad, blind rage.

The maddened zombies then proceeded to devour my brains before mindlessly wandering off again into the streets. This unfortunate turn of events left me rather exhausted, so I decided to take another nap.

Do Flowers Dream?

Her body limp, head hung, adrift
Says she, the chrysanthemum
"I remember"
And she closes her eyes

Does she dream? I wonder
Perhaps she does
And she does not hear the pitpatter
Of the rain against the glass

Perhaps she's forgotten the sounds
Of the busy street
Or the businessmen who talk
Forever on cell phones

No longer does she see the shades
Of grey and black
That make up the city

That she now calls her home

"I remember"
Says she, the
"When the wind was sweet
And the grass was blue and green"

"When the sun, in her glory
Would take you away
Underneath her sweet rays
Of golden, meticulous rainbows"

"And I remember
The melody of the rain
Long ago, before she was hidden
behind sheets of glass"

This poem was inspired by Flower for the ps3. I played it today, and I was completely blown away, (no pun intended) by what an amazing piece of visual art it was.

Happy Valentine's Day - among other things

Hello everyone, I hope you had a great day today! And if not, I hope you have a great day tomorrow, instead.

I have had a rather delightful day today. Well, besides the part where my boyfriend was sick so we had to stay home for Valentine's. But it's okay, because we ordered pizza and watched 5 Centimeters Per Second. It was actually a pretty depressing movie, though.

In other news, I had my Etsy shop featured on a blog! Click here to see! This was very exciting to me and I am very happy! Thank you to FirehouseJewelry from Etsy!

And just because I love you all, here's another pinback button design by yours truly.

Gertrude the Mutant Dustbunny

Once upon a time, Gertrude was lovely.

Gertrude would dance and sing.

She would bat her eyelashes and giggle and wave.

Once upon a time, Gertrude was beautiful.

...but that was a long time ago.

A Tasty Heart For You

Mmm, look at all those cupcakes! See the pink and white icing? The gummy hearts in corresponding colors? Isn't it sickeningly sweet? I feel like I'm in grade school again!

These tasty treats are for my D&D night tomorrow! We are supposed to bring a decadent dessert; I thought that instead of making something fancy and tasteful, (no pun intended,) that I would make something FUN! Come on, who doesn't like cupcakes?

Oh, and don't worry, I didn't forget to place the ancient "ward-off-evil" charm.

Angry Jellyfish, Anyone?

Not much entirely new or exciting is happening, I'm afraid. Starfish plushies are being sewn, mini starfish are in the works, and I am attempting to get my Paypal account set up properly. I have also officially decided to open an Etsy shop.

But here is an angry jellyfish for you! (Don't mind the less-than-subtle watermark!) This little guy is one of my pinback designs.

Button Love

I absolutely love pinback buttons. So much, in fact, that I am going to be purchasing a Button Machine and making my own to sell alongside my plushies. (Also, the machine I'm getting can also make magnets!)

I think that pinback buttons/magnets would be absolutely perfect for me. I love to create and draw adorable little critters, for example, and these buttons would be a perfect media to sell them! I have been so excited, and have already thought up a surplus of adorable button sets I could make.

Speaking of buttons, most of the pinbacks I ordered with my Christmas money have arrived! I have been decorating my octopus bag with them.

Aren't they cute? The 1 inch Happy Sea buttons are from Shana Logic, which I bought a long time ago. The rest, however, are all from Etsy. The other 1 inch buttons, (the ones with the cute characters on them) are made by pinkytoast. The 1.25 inch buttons are made by BarrelOfMonkeys, and the large 2.25 inch pinbacks are from geekdetails.

Unfortunately I can't afford to buy the machine yet, but I can get the designs ready! Maybe I'll even post a couple here soon!
